On the most recent episode of Dinner With The King, Jerry Lawler talked about Ric Flair, SummerSlam, and more. Here are the highlights they sent along:
On Ric Flair:
“Charlotte’s tweet, while it didn’t give people a whole lot of information, it didn’t seem as dire. It almost made you feel a little better about Ric’s situation. But still, we don’t know.
We think the world of Ric Flair. He’s the greatest of all-time. It’s a well-deserved handle for Ric. And we wish him the best. And hopefully he’ll make a full recovery from this and be back walking past us at a bar sometime in the near future going wooo! C’mon, Ric. Kick out!”
SummerSlam and Finn Balor:
“I’ve been waiting on this for a long time — Demon Finn Balor. That’s been my one gripe about Finn Balor. I think we need less Finn Balor and more Demon. I realize that’s cumbersome and time-consuming to get into that character and to become the Demon. But I think it’s worth it.”
Jerry Lawler’s Classic Memphis Wrestling being picked up:
“We did a pilot episode of our classic wrestling show here in Memphis. And it got picked up! September 9, we are going to get Bill Dundee back in the studio and we are going to shoot the first episode of Jerry Lawler’s Classic Memphis Wrestling. The Memphis wrestling that everybody grew up here in Memphis watching Saturday mornings. That’s going to be a weekly show coming up in Memphis on Channel 30, CW 30 here in Memphis.”

Totally misses the point.
Look at Undertaker. He never needed to get into makeup to be totally badass and bring the pain in a match. But you knew when he was preceeded to the ring by druids and blue smoke, shit was about to get real. He didn’t trot that out at every match. Only when the situation demanded you know you were going to see Taker at his very best. The feud had gotten to a point where only druid worshipping casket carrying undertaker was going to put this feud down in the ground. The best thing about taker was we saw how awesome he was in every match but you knew you’d have to wait to see the druids.
But we want to see the demon king every week… Can you imagine how old that would get? The coolest thing about it is how rare it is to see it.
That’s a good point. If we saw the druids every week that would have got stale! As great as The Undertaker was, his regular entrance got a little as well stale later in his career when he was still wrestling a full-time schedule. Bringing “The Demon” out now and then is a nice little hook for the company to make a few of his key matches feel bigger.
